Ada J. Kata, (nee McKillips) 73 of Lorain, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Born March 19, 1935 on Kelley's Island, she graduate high school there where she was the only student. There, she met her soul mate which was her high school teacher. She moved to Lorain in 1953 and married in 1954.
She was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Lorain. She was the best mother being very caring for her three daughters. She was also a terrific grandmother. Ada was a die hard sports fan, and loved gardening and cooking.
Surviving are her daughters, Jane (James) Cobb of Miami, FL, Cheryl Martinez of Lorain, and Lisa Allen of Baldwin, WI; grandchildren, Tina, Fred, Jonathan, Henry; and great grandchildren, Tristan, Josiah, Anthony, and Jayvon; sisters, Bernadette, Mary, Florence, and Francis.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Henry E. Kata in 1993; and parents, David and Wilmanee (nee Federson) McKillips.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:00 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 9:30 am at St. John Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Thomas Smith, pastor will officiate.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
