Ada Wlaszyn, (nee Klymenko), completed her earthly journey when she peacefully passed away on Monday, September 7, 2009 in the presence of her family at her home in Lorain.
Born on March 27, 1928 in Radechiw, Ukraine, Ada arrived at Ellis Island in 1951 and later became a naturalized US citizen. Following brief stays in Buffalo, NY and Lagrange, OH, Ada permanently settled her family in Lorain. Ada was a dedicated and loyal employee at Lorain Products, serving the company for 25 years as a skilled worker. A member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ada found much joy in spending time with her family, baking and celebrating her Ukrainian heritage. She was not only an active member of her parish, but also a member of the Ukrainian National Women's League, and a lifelong contributing member of the Vessels of Election Sisters of Basil.
She is preceded in death by her parents Andrij and Vera (nee Adrijwska) Klymenko, brother Roald Klymenko, sister Klara Iwanchuk, husband Iwan Wlaszyn and dear son Roman Wlaszyn.
Ada is survived by her son Victor J. (Irene) Wlaszyn of Tallmadge, daughters Andriana C. (Pedro) Riera of Boca Raton, FL and Irene Wlaszyn of Lorain. She will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren, Andrea Wlaszyn, Peter Riera, Michael (Lindsey) Wlaszyn, Nicholas Wlaszyn, Natalie (Sgt. James, USMC) Eppler and Alexandra Wlaszyn.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a Panachida will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Steven Paliwoda, pastor and Rev. Ignatius Kury of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church of Akron will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
