Adela Perez (nee Lugo), age 93, of Lorain, passed away at her residence on Saturday, April 17, 2021 while under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve.
Born May 22, 1927 in Caguana, Puerto Rico, she moved to Lorain in 1951.
Adela was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and community. In addition to being a dedicated mother and grandmother she always provided refuge for extended family and neighbors alike.
Surviving are her sons, Joseph (Pam) Perez of Lorain and Adrian (Vera) Perez of Lakewood; daughters, Nora (Tom) Newton of Waldorf, Maryland, Marlene Perez and Nidia Perez (Richard) both of Cleveland Heights; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Reyes Perez in 1997; son, George Perez; a sister, Elena Capitillo; and brother, Jose Lugo.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 â 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain and on Thursday from 8:30 am until the time of mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Facial covering and social distancing will be required in the funeral home and at church.
