Adele (nee Baron) Andulics, age 91, of Sheffield Lake, passed away on October 19, 2023 at her home while under the care of Mercy New Life Hospice, after a lengthy illness.
While Adele will be greatly missed by her family and friends, there is much joy in knowing that she is reunited with her beloved husband, Joe, who left us in 2017.
Adele was born on July 3, 1932, in Alicia, PA, to John and Mary (nee Nowobielska) Baron. She attended both Brownsville High School in Pennsylvania and Lorain High School, graduating in 1950.
Adele and Joe were married in Lorain on October 20, 1951. They resided in Lorain until moving to Sheffield Lake in 1977.
Adele had a variety of occupations in her lifetime, but the job that best suited her was fabric store manager. She taught herself to sew as a young bride and went on to become an accomplished seamstress, crafting everything from Barbie doll wardrobes to beautifully tailored wedding gowns.
She was very proud of her Polish heritage and traveled to Poland twice. She was happy to meet cousins while visiting the region from which her family emigrated. Later in life she mastered the Polish folk art of Wycinanki and soon most every flat surface in her home was adorned with colorful flowers and roosters.
Adele was very well-known for her love of housecleaning. We can well imagine a woman who once boasted of owning seven vacuum cleaners, each with a different purpose, will soon have those pearly gates sparkling clean. And her love of tidiness extended to the outdoors as well where nary a weed stood a chance against Adele and her trusty dandelion puller.
Adele’s life-long passion for reading motivated her to jump on the technology bandwagon years before many others of her generation. When she discovered owning a Kindle meant having an entire library in her hand there was no stopping her. And learning she could watch all the British comedies and Metropolitan Opera performances she wanted on her Chromebook was just the icing on the cake.
Adele leaves behind her son, Joseph (Iolanda) Andulics of North Ridgeville, her daughter, Karen (Glenn) of Brownsburg, IN, her daughter, Tanya who resided with her in Sheffield Lake; her grandchildren, Angela, Christina, Joseph, Kathryn and Emily; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Camryn, Fynlee, TJ and Anthony. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Patricia Baron and Michiko Baran.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents, John and Mary as well as her brothers: Frank, Joseph, John, Edward and James.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 24 from 8:15 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 9:15 a.m. at Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 715 Harris Rd, Sheffield Lake.
Her family also wishes to acknowledge the compassion and care shown to Adele by Mercy New Life Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adele’s memory are greatly encouraged to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
