Adolfa Mercado, 83, of Lorain, died Friday, October 24, 2008 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Born December 8, 1924 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, she came to Lorain in 1954.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and the Cursillo Movement there. While living in Puerto Rico, she taught catechism. Adolfo enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Surviving are her sons, Ralph (Millie), Daniel (Monica), Martin Jr. (Debbie), Angel (Becky), Frank (Chrissy) and Antonio (Anna) all of Lorain; daughters, Gladys (Rudy) Hernandez, Helen Mercado, and Margie (Willie) Roldan all of Lorain; 30 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Martin in 1996; and 11 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:45 am followed by mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
