Agapito "Pito" Velez, age 70, of Lorain, died on Sunday, January 13, 2008, at Community Health Partners HSC - West, Lorain, after a long illness.
He was born on April 10, 1937 in San German, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain in 1954, where he has resided for most of his life.
He was employed as a machine operator at Western Enterprises for 10 years, before retiring in 1980. Prior to that, he was employed at Montefiore Hospital in New York as a messenger. Throughout his life, he enjoyed refurbishing homes and doing construction work.
Pito was a member of the House of Praise International Church, Lorain
He enjoyed walking, watching western movies, watching t.v., camping, and listening to music. He also loved to go for drives.
He is survived by his son, Junior Velez., of Lorain, daughters; Maria Velez, of Lorain, Evette Velez, of Long Beach, CA, and Angela Velez, of Puerto Rico, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brothers; David, of Orlando, FL, and Jose Angel, of Kissemee, FL, and a sister, Carmen Sanchez, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Agapito and Maria Dolores (nee Bonilla) Velez, a brother, Lucas, and a sister, Carmen Maria, in 1998.
