Agnes Cecelia Szep (nee Krasienko), age 97, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Avon Oaks Caring Community, following short illness.
Born June 29, 1919 in Lorain, she moved to Avon in 1954 where she had lived since.
Agnes worked as a meat processor at Fisher Foods in Lorain for 25 years. Prior to this, she worked at A & P grocery store in North Olmstead and Crystal Clear Cleaners in South Lorain.
She was a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lorain, and the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America, Local 425, AFL. She enjoyed bowling with the Senior Citizens League and Brunswick Bowling Alley Seniors, line dancing, polkas and playing cards. She also enjoyed spending time at the Lorain Senior Center.
Surviving are her sons, James Szep of Avon and Charles Ploskunak of Wellington; grandchildren, Chucky Ploskunak of Kentucky, Tammy Miller of Amherst, Shawn Szep of Marysville, Ohio and Stacy Szep of Avon; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, John Szep in 1973; her first husband, Andrew Ploskunak in 1974; parents, Stanley and Wladyslawa "Gladys" (nee Zdanowska) Krasienko; brothers, Steve, Charles, John and Alex; sisters, Florence Frazee and Sophie Krall.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of funeral service at 10:00 am in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Robert Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish of Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. To send online condolences go to
