Aida E. Irene (nee Gonzalez), age 85, of Lorain, died on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
She was born on January 26, 1922 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, later moving to Lorain, where she had spent most of her life.
She was employed as a lunch aide for the Lorain City School System for 10 years, before retiring in 1990. Prior to this, she had worked for Joseph and Feiss, in Cleveland, as a seamstress.
Aida was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and a Cursillista.
She enjoyed cooking at church and crocheting.
Aida is survived by a son, Joe, of North Royalton, 4 daughters; Gisela Dempsey, of Lorain, Angela Matos, of Lorain, Mary White, of Stow, and Carmen Houseman, of Lorain, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a brother, Jorge Gonzalez, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Victor R., in November 1, 2006, her parents; Pablo and Angela (nee Rodriguez) Gonzalez, her sister, Blanca Gonzalez, and 2 brothers; Enrique and Jose Gonzalez.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 2, 2007, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends will also be received Monday, from 8:30 am until the time of mass at 9:30 am, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055. The Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
