Alejandrina "Mary" Ramos, (nee Guzman), 67, of Elyria, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at her residence following a sudden illness.
She was born March 13, 1939 in Utuado, Puerto Rico, and lived in this area since 1961.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, the Cursillo Movement, and Legion of Mary and she was also a Eucharistic minister at the church.
She enjoyed cooking for others, and loved her family and grandchildren. She very hospitable to others, visiting the ill, and volunteering her time to visit the elderly. She had a strong devotion to the blessed Virgin Mary.
She is survived by her son, Domingo Jr. of Avon; daughters, Evelyn Payne of Elyria, Nilsa Vazquez, Lillian Diaz, both of Lorain, and Alicia Ramos of North Royalton, 19 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Cruz Guzman of Utuado, Puerto Rico; a sister, Candida G. Vera of Ponce, Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Domingo R. Ramos Sr. in 1998; parents, Juan Guzman in 1987 and Monserrate (nee Vera) Guzman in 1967; brothers, Jose C. Guzman in 1972, and Carmelo Guzman in 1973; sisters, Ana Guzman in 1973, and Josefa Sanchez 1999; granddaughter, Elise Briel Payne in 1992 and grandson, Daniel Eliseo Gomez in 1994.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pear Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
