Alejo Cruz Morales, age 87, of Lorain, died at his home, on Monday, June 2, 2008.
He was born on July 17, 1920, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain 59 years ago, where he has resided since.
He was employed at US Steel, retiring from there in 1981. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He was also a member of the Puerto Rican Home.
Alejo enjoyed fishing, watching the Cleveland Indians, and gardening.
He is survived by his sons; Alejo Morales, Jr., of Phoenix, AZ and Jose Morales, of Ellerslie, GA, his daughters; Edith Pabon, of Lorain, Carmen Carlson, of Wakeman, Gloria Criss, of Amherst, Milagros Bueno, of Pontiac, MI, and Irma Pettry, of Oberlin, 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Juana (nee Arroyo) Morales, in 1998, his parents; Jacinto and Filomena (nee Cruz) Morales, a grandson, 4 brothers, and 1 sister.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 4 from 7-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held the following morning at 11:00 am. The Rev. Tony DeGracia, Deacon of Sacred Heart Chapel, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
