Allen L. Wallace, age 91, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, following a brief illness.
He was born on January 7, 1919 in Huntington, West Virginia, moving to Lorain 46 years ago.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. He had received the American Defense Ribbon with one bronze star, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 bronze stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
Allen was employed by E & L Transport Company for 50 years.
He was a lifetime member and post commander of VFW Post #7576 in Vermilion. He was instrumental in building the new building. "Cootie Member" of the VFW. He dedicated a lot of his time to the VFW, and was very involved with every function they held. Allen also enjoyed playing the guitar.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Evelyn Malone, son: Joseph William Malone, of Kentucky, daughters, Allene Barrett of Lorain and Brenda Ravenscroft of Kentucky, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vada Wallace, grandfather, George Wallace, son, Earl Dwaine Malone, daughter, Sandra Beatty, son, Ernest Malone and daughter, Janet Duncan.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Burial will take place in Huntington, West Virginia.
