Alvira M. Huneke (nee: Toma) "Al", age 87, of Lorain, died on Sunday, September 10, 2006, at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, after a long illness.
She was born on January 6, 1919 in Lorain, Ohio, where she remained a life-long resident. She was a 1938 graduate from Lorain High School.
Alvira was employed at Lorain Products, retiring from there after 29 years of work. Previous to working for Lorain Products, she was employed at Bendix, Elyria.
She was a life-long member of the Hungarian Reformed Church, Lorain, where she also sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Busy Martha Guild for many years.
Alvira enjoyed yard work, crossword puzzles, and drawing.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Huneke (Mary Kay), of Huron, Ohio, a sister, Violet Smith, of Lorain, a niece and 4 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; John and Sophie (nee; Chonko) Toma, and a brother, Robert Toma.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 from 5-9 p.m. with an evening service at 8:30 p.m., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The funeral service will be the following morning, at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home. The Rev. Peter Toth, Pastor of the Hungarian Reformed Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
