Andonio J. DiLuciano

Andonio J. "Tony" DiLuciano, 80, of Lorain, died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Lutheran Medical Center, Cleveland, following a sudden illness.


He was born Oct. 26, 1927 in Lorain, where he lived his entire life and attended Lorain High School.


He served in the US Army during World War II, having received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. He then served in the US Army during the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, and the United Nations Service Medal.


Tony worked for as a postal carrier for the US Post Office in Lorain, retiring in 1988 after 37 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for Lorain Works US Steel.


He was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Lorain, the National Association of Letter Carriers, and the American Postal Service Workers Union.


He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns, and enjoyed working around his house and yard. He was known as "Tony the Mailman" by all and loved his family and everyone that he came in contact with.


Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Carole J. (nee Kekic), a son, Dominic DiLuciano of Lorain; daughters, Brenda Smith of Lorain, Toni Sultzer of Lorain, and Sharon Strong of Vermilion; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald DiLuciano of Lorain and sisters: Kay Bylica and Mary Coviello, both of Lorain.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic DiLuciano and Frances (nee Gelorme) DiLuciano; and a sister, Jean March.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. John Roman Catholic Church, Grove Ave and Homewood Dr., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Thomas Smith, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct military honors.
