Andrew E. Mooney, age 99, of Lorain, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic following a short illness.
Born May 25, 1925, in Ceres, PA, he lived in Buffalo, New York before moving to Lorain in 1957.
He worked for Ford Motor Company while living in Buffalo and retired in1987 from the Lorain Ford Assembly plant as an inspector. Following his retirement from Ford, he continued to work for several different companies for many years.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 425.
Surviving are his sons, Harland Mooney (Rose Lafferty) and Ken (Linda) Mooney; daughters, Debra (Luis) Molina, Paula (Miguel) Cabrera, Andrea (Freddy) Davila, and Teresa Lafferty; stepson, Michael J. D’Angelo; stepdaughter, Claudia Maslony; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carmella in 1978; his second wife, Irene (nee Lane) in 2001; stepson Clyde Richards; son-in-law, Pete Lafferty; brothers, Benjamin, Paul, and George; sister, Viola Spencer as well as his good friend, Richard Molina.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Private burial will take place in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, New York. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists is handling the arrangements.
