Angel Matos, age 75, of Lorain, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at Regency Hospital West in Middleburg Heights following a brief illness.
Born November 24, 1946, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he moved to Lorain with his family in 1957. Angel graduated from Lorain High School in 1967, and then worked for at Lorain Works US Steel for 32 years, retiring in 2000. He also worked as a stationary engineer in the utility department of the Cleveland Clinic for 13 years, retiring in 2018.
Angel enjoyed golfing, bowling, running 5K’s, playing softball and working on crossword puzzles.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Maria (nee Cabrera); sons, Nathaniel Matos of Lorain and Isaac Matos of Saline, MI; his mother, Claudina Rosa Reyes of Lorain; brothers, Luis (Angie) Matos, Danny (Darlene) Matos, Carlos (Rosemary) Matos and Victor (Enit) Matos all of Lorain, Jamie (Delena) Matos of Florida and Benny (Madalyn) Matos of Amherst; sisters, Carla (Bob) Herbst of Avon and Zoraida (Ramon) Garcia of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alejandro Matos Reyes in 2010.
Private burial will take place in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
