Angel E. Toro Sr., 68 of Lorain, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born November 2, 1945 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, he lived in Coatsville, PA before moving to Lorain in 1976. Angel was a graduate of Assemblies of God Bible Institute.
He worked on the assembly line for Ford Motor Company for 20 years, retiring in 1997.
Angel was a 37 year member of Templo Emmanuel in Lorain, where he served as an Elder as well as Sunday school teacher. He also volunteered at the church in many aspects including cooking and bus driver, which he really enjoyed.
Angel truly loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always enjoyed gardening and cooking, especially for his family. He also visited shelters and loved helping others.
Surviving are his sons, Anthony L. (Rebecca) DeChoudens of Vermilion and Angel E. Toro Jr. of Lorain; a daughter, Carmen Marie (William) Wooten of Cincinnati; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Luis Toro of Florida and Jesus Toro of Puerto Rico; and a sister Mercedes Toro of Delaware.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Nilsa (nee Flores) in 2000; parents, Luis M and Maria V. (nee Santiago) Toro; 2 sisters and a brother.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Templo Emmanuel, 4230 Clinton Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 am. Rev. Pedro Negron, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
