Anne Pasky (nee Kozopas), 91, died peacefully in her sleep June 18, 2009 at West Bay Healthcare in Westlake, where she had been living since 2005. She was born December 13, 1917 in Toledo and lived in Lorain for most of her life, except for a few years as a child in South Amherst. She was a 1936B graduate of Lorain High School, and worked at Troxel in Elyria, at the National Tube Company during WW II, and at her sister's Jan-Terry Flower Shop in later years. She and her husband Peter also owned Pasky's Kandy Korner store at 23rd St & Broadway from 1947-1957.
Anne was a great cook, loved family gatherings, and enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite trips was a 1952 drive to California in their new Ford with the family. She was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lorain, and was active for many years in its Ladies Guild and Sisterhood, including as an officer, and was on the team who made pierogi for sale. More recently, she became a member of St Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma.
Anne was the second of six sisters who remained good friends all their lives, including an informal pinochle club with friends that met regularly for over 50 years. She was a successful gardener who enjoyed the flowers at her home, particularly the roses she grew from her mother's bushes. She also loved the dogs they had over the years, particularly Butch and Puff.
Survivors include her son, Richard Pasky (Mary Jane) of Elyria; daughter, Joyce (Dean) della Volpe of Lakewood; daughter-in-law, Linda Pasky of Pierpont; grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Bird, Nick and Tom della Volpe, Sara (Steve) Hall, Michael (Kim) Pasky, Megan Pasky, and Tanya (Larry) Kidd; great grandchildren, Samantha and Larissa Kidd, Rex Hall, and Daniel Bird; and sisters Kathryn Washio of Port Clinton, Rose Hencheck and Carol Delaney both of Lorain, and Sally Jenkins of Oberlin.
She was preceded in death by Peter, her beloved husband of 54 years, in 1992; son, Thomas in 1986; and a sister, Mary Matchison in 2002.
