Anne Eleanor Zeleznik (nee Zabnikar), age 71, of Lorain, died on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at her residence.
She was born on April 29, 1936 in Newburgh Heights, OH, moving to Lorain in 1963, where she resided for the rest of her life. She graduated from South High School in Cleveland.
She was employed at Somers Agency for 20 years before retiring in 2006. Anne was an active member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain. Anne was also a member of Quota International. For years, she was active in the Lorain Slovenian Club and helped to run the Fish Fry there, in the 1970's. In 1985, she was named Lorain Slovenian Woman of the year.
She enjoyed cooking, Polka dancing, flying, and boating. She was one of the first women in Lorain County to take flying lessons and soloed in the 1960's.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Maryanne Zeleznik and her husband Paul Sanow, of Fort Thomas, KY, a granddaughter, Tamara "Tammy" Sanow, sisters; Dolores Sims, of Cortland, OH, Rosemarie (Dick) Sulkowski, of Broadview Heights, OH, Donna "Redbird" Miller, of Lake Worth, FL, and Martha (Dennis) Arcuri, of Broadview Heights, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Anthony "Tiny", in 1994, and her parents; Frank and Anna (nee Sipko) Zabnikar.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 10th, from 2-5 and 6-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a Parastas will be held at 7:00 pm. The Panahida will be held at 9:30 am in the funeral home on Monday morning. A Funeral Pre-Sanctified Liturgy will follow at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 West 40th Street, Lorain. The Very Rev. Fr. Nicholas R.A. Rachford, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
