Anthony F. Bascone, 88, of Lorain passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home following a brief illness.
Born November 18, 1928 in Lorain, he lived in Lorain his entire life. He was a 1947 graduate of Lorain High School.
Anthony worked in maintenance at Ford Motor Company Lorain Assembly Plant for 32 years, retiring in 1991. Prior to this, he worked at Fruehauf Trailer Corporation and American Ship Building.
He was a member of St. Peter Parish, Lorain, and the United Autoworkers Union Local 425. Anthony enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was also an avid reader of Civil War History.
Surviving are his sons; Peter J. (Darlene) of Amherst, Anthony G. (Susan) of Fremont and Stanley J. (Joan) of Cleveland; 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; brother, Joseph (Virginia) Bascone of Lorain and sister-in-law Dolores Bascone of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (nee Ploszaj) on October 10, 2016; parents, Joseph and Angelina (nee Totta) Bascone); and brother, Leo Bascone.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev Craig M Hovanec, pastor of St. Peter Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. To send online condolences go to
