Anthony "Tony" G. Vasquez, age 54, of Lorain, died on Saturday, November 17, 2007, after a sudden illness.
He was born on February 11, 1953 in Manhattan, New York, moving to Lorain in the 1970's. He was in the Marines from 1970 until 1972.
Tony loved people and loved life, he made friends wherever he went. He inspires us all by his giving and unselfish nature. Tony had always said "yes" to a person in need, and gave away all that had. Tony was like a big kid and loved playing with his grandkids.
He enjoyed playing softball in Lorain, in the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's. He also loved playing with his grandchildren, watching movies, and collecting DVD's, toys, pictures, and music.
Tony is survived by his fiancé; Lois Kane, also of Lorain, 3 sons; Anthony, Michael, and Jason, all of Lorain, 2 daughters; Kathy Kane, of Lorain, and Lisa Tymchuk, of FL, 8 grandchildren; Jazmin, Jaylen, Justin, Tyler, Josh, Antoine, Bryce, and Troy, and 4 sisters; Norma, Sally, Joanne, and Yvette, all of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Vasquez.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held the following morning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
