Antoinette "Toni" Leonard (nee; Carson), age 82, of Amherst, died on Friday, December 15, 2006, at Hearthstone, Lorain, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 4, 1924, in Lorain, where she resided until 1977, when she moved to Amherst.
She was a 1942 graduate of Lorain High School and active in her class reunion group. She was also a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling for many years, and in 1988 was inducted into the Lorain Women Bowlers Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed reading, word puzzles, travel, and the Cleveland Indians.
She will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her 5 sons; Robert D., of Amherst, Mark A., of Salinas, Calif, Thomas J., of Columbus, Leo M., of Palm Coast, Fla, and Donald J., of Avon, her 2 daughters; Patricia C. Leonard, of North Ridgeville, and Mary Ann Leonard, of Washington D.C., 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, a brother, John Carson, of Lorain, and sisters; Natalie Jursinski, of Boca Raton, Fla., Josephine Aron, of Fairview Park, and Marie Stevens, of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Theodore D. Leonard, on October 8, 2006, her parents; Walter and Pauline Carson, brothers; Victor, Myron, and Peter, and sisters; Anna Maleski and Mary Carson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2006, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where closing prayers will be held the following morning at 9:30 a.m. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. David Novak will officiate with the Rev. Fr. James Beatty co-officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Lorain.
