Antolin L. Castro, age 80, of Lorain, died Saturday, December 11, 2004 in the Specialty Hospital of Lorain, following a brief illness.
He was born on April 16, 1924 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, Mr. Castro had lived in Lorain for the past 56 years. He was one of the original migrants from Puerto Rico, that came here in 1948 to work at the former National Tube. He later had been employed as a crane operator for U.S.Steel, in Lorain, for over 30 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain. He enjoyed watching wrestling on television; listening to traditional Christmas Puerto Rican folklore music all year long; and also enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife- Bienvenida (nee-Rosario) Castro, to whom he had been married to for over 62 years(4-27-1942); 3 daughters- Luz Maria Rodriguez of Lorain, Irma Figueroa of Bloomfield, New Jersey and Juanita Castro of Elyria; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and 3 sisters- Julia Castro of Lorain, Hipolita Castro of New York and Lucia Pagan of Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his parents- Juan and Nicolasa (nee-Lazu) Castro; 1 son- Julio Castro on July 16, 2004; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will receive friends again on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, with the Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
