Antonia Blanco, 85 of Lorain, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born September 28, 1928 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, she came to Lorain in 1975.
Antonia was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and loved traveling, especially back to Puerto Rico. She also enjoyed reading, growing flowers and cooking.
Surviving are her sons, Angel L. Ortiz, Jose Ortiz, Moises Ortiz all of Lorain, and Arsenio Ortiz of Barranquitas, Puerto Rico; daughters, Ana Rios, Maria L. Ortiz and Virgen Lopez all of Lorain; 27 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jesus Blanco of Barranquitas, Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alberto L. Ortiz in 1998; parents, Otilio Blanco in 1992 and Veronica Ortiz in 1963; a son and daughter in infancy; and 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Jose Blanco in 1976; and a sister, Mercedes Blanco in 2007.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 am followed by mass at 10:00 am at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden, pastor of Sacred Heart Chapel will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
