Antonio "Papo" Cruz

Antonio "Papo" Cruz, age 55, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 15, 2010, at his home.
He was born on April 12, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY, but has lived in Lorain ever since he was a young child. He was a 1975 graduate of Southview High School. After high school, Tony served in the United States Army from 1976 until 1980.
He was employed at the Lorain Ford Plant for a few years, working on the assembly line. He then worked for PC Campana, where he was a welder and packager. Tony attended the House of Praise.
His grandchildren and family was his world. He also enjoyed playing pool, working on cars, and watching martial arts movies.
Tony is survived by his sons; Shawn, Michael, and Mark, all of Lorain, his grandchildren; Julia Cruz, Shawn Cruz, Jr., and Louis Collazo, and his brothers; Richard Romero, Gilbert Romero, Noel Romero, Robert Romero, and Maico Romero, all of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Santos Romero, on Oct. 12, 2006 and Julia Victoria Romero (nee Colon), on March 4, 2006.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19th, from 5-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 am. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
