Antonio Delgado, age 79, of Lorain, died suddenly on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at his residence.
Born March 16, 1931 in Lorain, he was a life long resident of the city.
Antonio worked as a straddle truck driver for Lorain Works US Steel for 31 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain, the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104, the St. Mary Commandery #281 of the Knights of St. John, and a former member of the Mexican American Citizens Club.
Antonio loved his dog, Dreyfuss, and enjoyed watching westerns and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his son, Antonio "Tony" Jr. (Susan) of Lorain; grandchildren, Kate (Dan) Kort of Hilliard, Ohio, Joe (April) Delgado of Philadelphia, PA, and Stephanie (Randy) Saunders of Columbus, Ohio; a great granddaughter, Maya Kort of Hilliard, Ohio; a sister, Guadalupe Flores of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ermelinda (nee Prieto) in 1986; a daughter, Lydia Price in 1978; parents, Justo and Luisa (nee Rangel) Delgado; brothers, Peter and Paul; sisters, Juanita Amador, Helen Garcia and Delores Reyes.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father Charles Henkle, O.F.M. Conv. Parochial Vicar of the Church of Saint Peter, Lorain, will officiate, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
