Aurelio Perez

Aurelio Perez, age 96 of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at his residence while under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice following a lengthy illness.
Born September 23, 1921 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, he moved to Lorain in 1950 and worked at Lorain Works US Steel before moving to Connecticut in 1971. He returned to Lorain in 2017.
While living in Connecticut, Aurelio attended Concilio Americano Institute in Bridgeport, and served as an officer in his church. At his church he was a member of the men's fellowship, taught Sunday school and was a teacher with the children's group. Aurelio enjoyed church picnics and loved working with children and was an avid painter and gardener.
Surviving is his sons, Frank Perez of Maryland and Jose Perez of Connecticut; daughters, Cecilia Schmidt of Lorain and Daisy Giannuzzi of Amherst; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother, Andres Perez of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Basilisa (nee Muniz) Perez; 8 brothers and 7 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am. Rev. Raul Lozado, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
