Balbina Amaro Soto

Balbina Amaro Soto, age 82, of Lorain, died on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, following a short illness.
She was born on March 31, 1929 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, moving to this area in 1989.
She was a member of Iglesia De Dios Inc., and also belonged to the Women's Association in her church. Balbina was also involved with El Dorado Senior Center. She enjoyed studying the Bible and traveling.
She is survived by her sons, Bienvenido (Jenny) Santiago, of Puerto Rico, Nelson (Nelly) Amaro of Lorain, Daniel (Rebecca) Burgos, Abel (Rosa) Burgos, Luis Burgos, and Elpidio Burgos, all of Lorain; daughters, Lucy (Jimmy) Santiago, Yolanda (Eriberto) Burgos, both of Puerto Rico, Awilda (Luis) Rivera, of New Jersey, Brenda (Carlos) Burgos and Carmen (Jorge) Ortiz, both of Lorain; 23 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; and a brother, Elpidio Amaro, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fruto in 1960 and Rosa (nee Soto) Amaro in 1993; sisters, Cesarea in 1993 and Carmen Iris Rodriguez in 1994.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Iglesia De Dios Inc. 300 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Jonathan Sierra, pastor will officiate. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
