Basilio Perez, age 72 , of Lorain, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Amherst Manor, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 14, 1934 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico moving to Lorain in 1947.
He was employed at US Steel for years, retiring in 1988.
Basilio was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, where he was involved in the Crusillio Movement, John 23rd Movement and the Charismatic Renewal at Sacred Heart and also the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
He was very religious and cared about people very much and was active in the community.
He is survived by his sons: Basilio Perez, Jr. and, Mario Perez, both of Lorain, and Edwin Farnham of Sheffield, daughters: Melinda Perez of Lorain, Carolyn Perez, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Angela Davies of Decatur, GA, brothers: Abelardo Perez, Felix Perez, sisters: Zoraida Perez, Confesora Perez, Alejandrina Perez, all of Puerto Rico step-mother: Carmen Hernandez Perez, of Amherst, 7 grandchildren and 9 step-brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years: Esther Angeline Perez (nee Evener) in 1994 and parents: Pablo Perez and Justiniana (nee Giraud) Perez both in 1995 and sister: Carmen Perez.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Where funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
