Beatrice Avalos

Beatrice "Bea" Avalos (nee Cantu), age 87, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born February 17, 1930 in Houston, Texas, she moved to Lorain in 1951. Starting in the late 1970s, Beatrice worked 10 years for Freezer Queen in Elyria Township.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and caring for her children.
Beatrice is survived by her husband of 66 years, Pete Sr.; her children, Pete (Helen) Avalos Jr., Minerva "Mini" Fonseca, Otis (Diane) Avalos, Harold Avalos all of Lorain, Nancy Borer of Amherst Twp., Michael (Sherri) Avalos and Mario Avalos both of Lorain, David (Vicki) Avalos of Fort Worth, TX, Freddie (Crystal) Avalos and Moses Avalos both of Lorain, Elizabeth (David) Avalos-Samsami of Honolulu, HI, Adam Avalos of Fort Worth, TX and Annette (Matthew) Smith of Lorain; 36 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Clemencia (nee Santos) Cantu; and several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Friday from 8:30 am until the time of mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
