Beatrice J. “Bea” Miller (nee Jackson), age 85, of Sheffield Village, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital following a short illness.
Born January 1, 1938, in Duck, West Virginia, she moved to Washington with her husband while he served in the US Army. After his discharge in 1958, they moved to Ohio, before settling in Sheffield Village in 1970.
Bea worked as a bus driver for Sheffield/Sheffield Lake, SBS, retiring from Lorain County Transit.
She served as an officer at Amherst Sportsmen’s Gun and Real for several years and was involved in Girl Scouts when her daughters were young.
She enjoyed traveling, camping, cooking, sewing, reading, and family genealogy. Bea also loved going along with her husband and reading under a pine tree while he hunted.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon B. (Luis) Otero of Lorain, Sandra J. (Mike) Ciarrone of Avon Lake, Shirley J. (Frank) Gentile of Indiana, and Sara D. (Tim) McDaniel of Lorain; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Neely N. “Neal” Miller, in 2021, and her parents, William and Sally (nee Duffield) Jackson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor of St. Peter Parish in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Garfield Cemetery, Sheffield Village. T
