Benedicta Ramirez, (nee Morales) age 77, of Lorain, died on Monday, June 19, 2006 at Lake Pointe Health Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 5, 1929 in Viequez, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain in 1953.
She was employed as a cook at Avon Oaks Nursing Home and as a teacher's aide in the Star Program at Lorain County Community Action Agency.
She was a member of the First Spanish Disciples of Christ and House of Praise Church.
Benedicta enjoyed cooking, gardening, visiting friends and traveling.
She is survived by her son: Nelson Ramirez, of Lorain, daughter: Elsa Ramirez-Romero of Denver, Colorado, 5 grandchildren, brothers: Lionisio Morales, Mari Morales, both of Rio Grande, PR, Antonio Ortiz of Sabana, PR, and Isaac Ortiz of Baltimore, MD, sisters: Ana Morales, and Lali Garcia-Morales both of Rio Grande, PR.
She was preceded in death by her husband Miguel Ramirez, in 1988, parents: Genaro Morales and Esmeraida Vegenaro and brother: Benjamin Morales and Felix Morales.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 21, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends may also call on Thurs. at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel until time of mass at 9:30 a.m. Rev. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will be held in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
