Benilda "Benny" Carrion, (nee Pagan), 57, of Lorain, died March 5, 2009 at Community Health Partners, Lorain following a short illness.
Born April 11, 1951 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, she came to Lorain in 1969 where she lived since.
She worked for Catholic Charities as nurse's aid for 5 years. Prior to that, she worked in the housekeeping dept. of St. Joseph Hospital then Community Health Partners for 25 years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Benilda enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, cooking, traveling to Puerto Rico and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Stephen Carrion of Morgantown, WV, and Edward (Kim) Carrion Jr., of Grafton; a daughter, Melissa ( Rodolfo) Garcia of Lorain; grandchildren, Lalaih Carrion and Vanessa Carrion; a brother, Ubelines "Pucho" Rivera of Tampa, FL; sisters, Carmen Rivera of Jersey City, NJ, Enieda Rivera of Brookpark, OH, and Lysette Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL.
She was preceded in death by parents, Pedro and Teofila (nee Maldonado) Pagan; a brother, Pedro Pagan Jr.; and sister, Maria "Cuca" Garcia.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in Iglesia de Dios Ebeneezer, 3660 Globe Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. William Rios, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to help defray funeral expenses.
