Benito B. Fernandez, 48, of San Francisco, CA, died on Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Lorain, following a sudden illness.
He was born on June 8, 1958, in Brooklyn, NY. He had moved to Lorain when he was 7 years old. He then moved to Columbus and in 1991 he moved to California.
He had graduated from Southview High School in 1977. He attended Ohio State University, University of San Francisco, and Stanford University. He received his degree in Pharmacology and was pursuing his PA at Stanford.
He was currently a professor at Bryman College, teaching Pharmacology.
He is survived by his father, Bienvenido "Neco" Fernandez, of Lorain, his brothers; Juan Manqual, of Far Rockaway, NY, Amando Acevedo, of Waterberry, CT, Carlos "Chico" Fernendez, of Lorain, his sister, Annette Harrington, of Lorain, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles
"Benny" Fernandez was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria M. Fernandez (nee Manqual) in 2002, his sister, Iris Vasquez, in 2003, and an uncle Jose Baez, in 2003.
Friends may call on Friday, March 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be the following morning at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. William Thaden will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
