Benny F. Zadekas, 92, of Amherst, died on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Golden Acres Nursing Home, Amherst.
Born Jan. 21, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA, he came to Lorain in 1918 where he has lived since.
He served in the US Navy state side during World War II.
He worked for Lorain Works US Steel retiring in 1981. Prior to that, he worked for Fruehauf Trailer Co. until its closing.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley in 2004, Anthony in 1976, and Frank in 1969; sisters, Anne Ilcisko in 1972, and Frances Sipkovsky in 1980.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2:00 in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, with full military honors conducted by the VFW Post 451 combined with the American Legion Post 30. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to defray funeral expenses to the funeral home.
