Bernardo Rodriguez, 75, of Lorain, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Lake Pointe Health Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born March 8, 1936 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in 1979.
A US Army veteran, Bernardo served from 1954 to 1956.
Bernardo was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, where he was a member of the Crusillo Movement, and member and past president of the Holy Name Society.
He enjoyed exercising at the gym, and listening and playing music.
Surviving is his brothers, Angel of Lorain, Jose of Rhode Island, David of Bethlehem, Pa., Miguel of Santo Domingo, Edwardo Juan of Rhode Island, Edwardo of New Jersey, Pablo of New Jersey, Gregorio Torres of Lorain; and a sister, Benedicta De Jesus of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo and Clementia (nee Ortiz) Rodriquez; a brother, Felipe in 1979.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 18th from 8:30 am until the time of mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held on Friday, 9:30 a.m. in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
