Bernice S. Bach, (nee Sadowski), age 97, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born on December 3, 1912 in West Rutland, Vermont, she moved to Lorain in 1922.
Bernice was a hairdresser since the age of 16. She owned and operated Bernice's Beauty Shoppe in Lorain from 1930-1960. In 1968 Bernice obtained her real estate license which she held until the age of 80.
She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Lorain, the Lorain County Real Estate Board and the Alliance of Poles. She enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, crossword puzzles and traveling.
Surviving is her son, William of Wadsworth; daughters, Sandra Michael of Lorain and Camille Toth of Medina; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Milton of Lorain and Eugene of Amherst; and a sister, Eleanor Saltis of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1969; parents, Florian and Katherine (nee Blazejowski) Sadowski; a brother, Alphonse; and sisters, Adeline Prosowski and Jeannette Bereznak.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Lorain, Rev. Fr. Robert Glepko, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
