Bertie Blackburn (nee May), age 93 of Lorain, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a short illness.
She was born on November 25, 1913 in Grapevine, Kentucky; moving to Elyria in 1965. For the past 5 years, she has made her home with her grandson Neil Ray of Lorain.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, flowers and entertaining.
Surviving is her daughter, Magdalene Ray of Pikeville, Kentucky; grandson, Neil Ray with whom she made her home with in Lorain; 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Daniel May of Pikeville, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer Thacker in 1964; second husband, Sherwood Blackburn in 1979; parents, John and Mary May; daughters, Jearaldene Ray in 1976 and Lavonne Thacker in 1937; and many brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 17, 2007 in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home, 4964 Chloe Road, Pikeville, Kentucky, where funeral services will be on Friday, May 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Anne E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville, Kentucky.
