Betty L. Arend (nee Carnahan) 73 of Lorain, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 8, 1939 in Canton, Ohio, she lived in Fostoria, Ohio before moving to Lorain in 1966.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and enjoyed collecting bird houses, flower gardening, listening to country music, and babysitting her grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband of 46 years, James; her children, Mark and Terri Shortlidge both of Lorain; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph and Ronald both of Tiffin, Ohio, John of Fostoria, Ohio; sisters, Gloria Carnahan of Tiffin, Ohio, and Susan DeVore and Peggy Carnahan both of Fostoria, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Florence (nee Mercer) Carnahan; brothers, Harold, Roy, Donald, and Mervin Jr., and sisters, Dorothy and Maryann Carnahan.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery. Rev. Fr. James R. Ols, pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, will officiate.
