Betty J. Yagielo, (nee Telzerow), age 85, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Community Health Partners of Ohio-Lorain, following a brief illness.
She was born on April 1, 1923 in Elyria, Ohio, living a majority of her life in Lorain.
She was a 1940 graduate of Elyria High School.
Betty retired from K-Mart in Lorain, where she worked as an associate in the men's department.
She was very active in meeting regularly with a group of her cousins to sew. She also enjoyed needlepoint, counted cross stitching, enjoyed reading and always spending time with her family. She always looked forward to her morning cup of coffee with her cousin Esther.
She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Zust, of Vermilion, Barbara (Don) Szczepanowski, of Clemmons, North Carolina, sons, Steve (Diane) Yagielo, of Wellington, James (Marilyn) Yagielo of North Ridgeville, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Matthew in 2004, parents, William and Lillian (nee Nichols) Telzerow, brother, Fred Ketchum and sister, Marcelyn Lengel.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Robert Dybo, Deacon of Nativity of the BVM Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
