Bienvenida "Benny" Rodriguez

Bienvenida "Benny" Rodriguez (nee Irizarry), age 92, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Lake Pointe Health Center, Lorain.
She was born on April 26, 1915 in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico. She had also resided in Santurce, Puerto Rico and New York, before moving to Lorain in 1956.
She was a member of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal Ebenezer. Bienvenida was employed at Lorain Towel Supplies as a sewing machine operator for 5 years before retiring. She was a volunteer at the El Dorado Senior Center and for her church, where she helped coordinate outdoor activities.
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, cooking, going on outings, and having family and church picnics.
Bienvenida was the matriarch of 5 generations. She is survived by 3 daughters; Mrs. Miguel (Carmen) Berlingeri, Mrs. Jenny Alvarado, (who is a granddaughter, but was raised by Bienvenida, who considered her to be a daughter) and Mrs. Sarah Robles, all of Lorain, her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, a brother, Cruz, of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and a sister, Rufina Irizarry, of Hormigueros, Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons; Ramon Marrero, in 1954 and Filiberto Rodriguez, in 2006, her parents; Domingo and Justa (nee del Valle) Irizarry, 3 brothers; Juan Ramon, Narciso, and Ramon, and 2 sisters; Flor Maria Miranda and Eladia Irizarry.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 23, from 6 - 8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held the following morning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
