Bienvenido Perez Soto

Bienvenido Perez Soto, age 86 of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023 surrounded by his family at his residence, following a lengthy illness.

Born June 20, 1937, in Lares, Puerto Rico to Zenon Perez Velez and Elvira Soto Cardona, Bienvenido came to Lorain in 1958.  He worked for Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 33 years until his retirement in 1997.  A member of House of Praise International in Lorain, he served as usher at the church for many years.

Bienvenido was an avid domino and card player, winning several trophies.  He also enjoyed gardening and especially loved spending the winter in Puerto Rico.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Carmen N. (nee Rodriguez) Perez; children, Benny (June) Perez, Nancy (Eliezer) Fontanez and Carmen “Jajie” (Michael) Shippe; grandchildren, Moses, Michelle, Elijah, Jennifer, Angela and Benjamin; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Ramon Perez and Zenon “Tito” Perez and a sister, Elvira Perez.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as 9 brothers and sisters.
