Billy D. Kelly, age 69, of Elyria, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 in the Emergency Room at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West, Lorain, after a brief illness.
He was born on October 5, 1936 in Canton, Ohio; he was raised in Smithfield, PA before moving to Elyria in 1969.
He was a graduate of Point Marion High School, in Point Marion, PA.
Billy was employed at Asher Brothers formerly Evans Auto Parts, Lorain from 1970 - 2006. Prior to this he was employed at US Steel in Fairless Hills, PA for 15 years before transferring to the Lorain location, and worked there until 1985.
He enjoyed talking to his neighbors, using his computer, grilling in the summer, playing chess with his son, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorotha B. (nee Cumpston), sons: William Dale Kelly, of Elyria, Robert Richard Kelly, of Panama Beach, Florida, daughter: Carolyn Grace Kelly, of Lorain, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, brothers: Robert Sicora of Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Howard Young of Hopesdale, Ohio, sisters: Patricia Williams, of Morrisville, PA, Helen Wright, of Canton, OH, Marjorie Fitzsimmons, of Fairless, PA and Rita McAtee, of Canton, OH.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Rebecca Marie Kelly in 1968, sister: Marie Bourne and parents: Raymond Kelly and Mary Caroline (nee Spiker) Sicora.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 19, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Aaron Webb, Pastor of Beacon Baptist Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
