Birtie M. Newman, (nee Mowery) age 82, of Lorain, died on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Wellington Manor Nursing Home, following a sudden illness.
She was born on August 20, 1924 in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was a resident of Lorain County for over 60 years.
She was employed at a florist shop in Portsmouth for many years.
While a resident of Wellington Manor she attended Bible Study for the past 14 years. Birtie enjoyed crafts, she had a kind heart and loved visiting children.
Birtie May was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years: James A. Newman in 1986, parents: Edward & Edith Mowery, sisters: Calley and Ruby Mowery, brother: Washington Mowery, 11 uncles and 1 aunt.
Private graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
