Carl F. Giese

Carl F. Giese, age 89 of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at his residence.

Born February 8, 1935, to Carl M. and Caroline (nee Kudlo) Giese in Lorain, Carl spent much of his life in Ohio.  He graduated from Lorain High School in 1953 and later joined the Navy.  For 27 years, Carl worked for General Motors in Elyria.   Following his “retirement,” Carl was a driver for SBS Transit.  He was also a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain.

He loved bowling, cards, fishing, boating, traveling as well as watching football, baseball and above all, spending time with his family.

Surviving are his children, Veda M. (Michael) Wood, Anne M. (Jim) Tietz and Karl Joseph Giese; grandchildren, Jacob and Jenelle.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Susan Joanne Giese; both of his parents, as well as his brother, Ronald Giese and sister-in-law, Linda Giese.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain.  Rev. Craig Hovanec will officiate.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
