Carl E. Spaur, age 80, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Community Health Partners HSC - West, Lorain, after a short illness.
He was born on January 23, 1928, in Jane Lew, West Virginia, living in Lorain, for most of his life. He was employed at Us Steel as a Diesel Mechanic, retiring from there over 25 years ago.
Carl enjoyed playing golf and going bowling.
He is survived by his son, Al Phillips, of Lorain, his grandsons; Danny and Tim Phillips, his great grandchildren; Rylee, T.J., Jason, and Becky, 4 great great grandchildren, and his brothers; Stanley Posey, of Jane Lew, W. VA, Bob Posey and David Posey, both of TX.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Julia (nee Phillips), in April 12, 2007, his mother, Lila Retta Spaur and a brother, Rodney Posey.
Private visitation and funeral services were held yesterday in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
