Carmen Julia Ayala, (nee Pagan) age 68, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at her home, following a brief illness.
She was born on July 26, 1938 in Guanica, Puerto Rico; she came to Lorain in 1950.
She worked as a nurse's aid at Suburban Nursing Home, in Westlake, retiring in 1995 after working there for 2 years. Prior to that she worked 20 years for several different nursing homes, including Bradley Nursing Home, Westlake, and Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel. Carmen enjoyed bingo, cooking, and enjoyed doing house work, music and dancing.
She is survived by her sons: Timoteo Matos, Jr, of Bronx, New York, Efrain Matos, of Lorain, daughters: Elsie Matos, Edna Matos Acosta and Irma Iris Matos, all of Lorain, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, brother: Ramond Ramos of Lorain, sisters: Josephine Nardillio, of Maryland, Nicksa Ortiz Pagan, Elizabeth Pagan and Debbie Head, all of Lorain and Yoni Pagan of Yuaco, Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Julio Pagan and Vicenta Lozada, her adopted mother: Paula Pagan, first husband: Timoteo Matos in 1995, second husband: Domingo Santana in 1998 and brothers: Ricardo Pagan in 1993 and Julio Pagan Jr. in 1987.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 18, 2006 from 8:30 a.m. until time of mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
