Carmen Figueroa (nee Ortiz), age 73, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 16, 1939 in Coamo, Puerto Rico, living most of her life in Lorain. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Spanish Congregation, and was a faithful servant to her Jehovah. She loved talking about her God and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carmen was also a big Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Luis F., her children; Sylvia (Hector) Navarro, of Lorain, Ana Delia (Mike) Kennedy, of Lorain, Sarai (Jose) Otero, of Lorain, Nereida (Joseph) Garza, of Sandusky, Diana (Gilberto) Navarro, Lorain, Luis, Jr. (Judy) Figueroa, of Lorain, and Jeffrey (Darla) Figueroa, of Lorain, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and her brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, and her parents; Damaso and Josefina (nee Miranda) Ortiz.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 1, from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, at 1:00 pm, at Kingdom Hall, 2340 Crehore Street, Lorain.
