Carmen Lettenberger (nee Silvas), age 88, of Lorain, died on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a brief illness.
She was born on March 22, 1922 in Los Angeles, California. She moved to Lorain in 1968 from Columbus. Prior to this, she lived in Oklahoma City.
Carmen was much loved and respected. Remaining to celebrate her wisdom are her husband of 52 years, William John Lettenberger, her children; Gloria (Arthur) Horning, Rebecca Lettenberger and William "J" Lettenberger, her grandchildren; Amanda (Michael) Gonzalez, Alicia (Sean) Brewer, Alex (Gina Smith) Horning, Cassandra Lettenberger, and Cayla Lettenberger, and her great grandchildren; Dylan Gonzalez, Jasef "JC" Gonzalez, X'avier Horning, and Carmen Horning.
Above all, Carmen loved God, her family, and her friends. She enjoyed reading, sewing and celebrating all of life's occasions.
A celebration of her life will be held at a funeral Mass on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 9:30 a.m., at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. (Everyone please meet at the church.) Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
