Carmen E. Marcano (nee Castro), 84 of Lorain, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Five Stars Adult Care Facility in Avon Lake.
Born on March 29, 1932 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Carmen arrived in Lorain, Ohio in 1950 to unite with the love of her life, Marcelino. She attended and graduated from St. Joseph School of Practical Nursing. She then was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, retiring after 30 years there.
Carmen enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, dancing and listing to her late husband's serenades. She was known for her wit, sense of humor, grand elegance and memorable parties.
Carmen is survived by her sons, Edwin Marcano and Henry (Tania) Marcano both of Lorain; gransons, Ezekiel, Job and Matthew; 5 great grandchildren; 4 brothers and 4 sisters and her caretaker, Irma Marquez.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Marcelino in 2013; parents, Jesus and Adriana Castro and a brother and a sister.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 PM in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Luis Maldonado, deacon of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain will officiate. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. To send online condolences go to
