Carmen Navarro

Carmen Navarro (nee Mendez) age 79, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in the Emergency Room at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West, following a long illness.
She was born on May 5, 1928 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, she has lived in Lorain for the past 18 years, the second time.
Carmen had received her high school diploma with honors at the age of 57 in 1985.
She was employed at Community Health Partners and also at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain as a housekeeper for years, she was also a caregiver in Puerto Rico.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain and was a member of the Charismatic Group.
Carmen enjoyed listening to music, aerobics and spending time with her friends.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years: Victor, sons: Alejandro "Alex" Soto, of St. Petersburg, FL, Eduardo "Eddie" Soto, of Euclid, Ohio, daughters: Milagros "Millie" Soto and Magda "Margie" Soto-Rivera, both of Lorain, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, brothers: Juan "Gare" Mendez, of Sebring, Florida, Luis "Guillo" Mendez of Puerto Rico and Sixto Mendez of Puerto Rico, sisters: Judi Mendez of Puerto Rico, Rosa Mendez , Librada Mendez both of Brooklyn and Maria "Ellie" Mendez of Philadelphia, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Juan and Elvira (nee Nieves) Mendez, brother: Miguel Mendez and sisters: Aurea and Blanca Mendez.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, where services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Bob Kistemaker, of Lakewood New Life, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
